Troubleshooting
Hp 953/953XL & 903/903XL chips not recognising, or error messages etc..
This doesn’t happen with oem cartridges (Original HP), as there are hundreds of serial numbers on each cartridge, so it will never happen that you get two with the same serial no.
The compatible cartridges however can only have five serial numbers on each chip batch that’s produced, so the chance of having a duplicated serial number is increased.
If the cartridge you install has seen the same serial number previously you will initially get a failure message.
HOW TO FIX......
the next step is to reinstall the cartridge again. There are five serial numbers on this cartridge allowing you five chances of getting a serial number that your printer has not seen before.
Reinstalling the cartridge rotates the serial no. Users can do it up to 5 times EACH INK. This usually solves any issues, as its unlikely you have changed the inks so many times that the printer has seen all 5 serial numbers on each of those cartridges before.
It is vital that if they get a failure message or non-recognising cartridge you must take the offending ink out and reinstall it up to 5 times. To be sure that it has attempted all 5 serial numbers on each cartridge.
If there is still a failure its best to exchange the ink, as its likely that the replacement will be from a different batch and therefore have 5 more different serial numbers on it.
